For I was hungry and you gave me food,
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink...
Matthew 25:35
Feeding the hungry and the homeless is part of who we are as a church, who we are called to be as a village. On Thursday evenings, you will find a team from Mears Ashby and All Saints at the Daylight Centre in Wellingborough welcoming the homeless and those living in temporary accommodation. Each guest receives a hot drink and a bag filled with their choice of sandwich, chocolate bar, crisps and banana. In hot weather, we also provide a bottle of water. We are part of a network of groups who care for the homeless on weekday evenings.
How you can help us:
Feeding the homeless costs at least £30 per week. Many of our volunteers are able to contribute to the costs. If you would like to support us with either a one-off or regular donation, please contact James Bellamy (our PCC Treasurer). See our Contact Us page for his contact details.
We would welcome your prayers for our guests. You may like to say this prayer.
God our Father,
as we thank you for our homes and families,
we pray for those who have no one
or nowhere to call their own:
for those who sleep on our streets
or in temporary accommodation.
It is hard to find work, to be warm and fed, to stay clean,
when you have no place of your own.
As our Streetmeals team feeds their hunger,
Lord, help them to listen to their guests' stories,
and be a Christ-like blessing,
we pray. Amen.
