Qualifying Connections

If you do not live in the parish where you wished to get married, one or both of you will need to have a qualifying connection to one of the parishes in this benefice to be able to be married in the church that you have chosen.

Qualifying connections

You will need to show that one of you:

has at any time had his or her usual place of residence in one of the parishes for a period of at least 6 months or

was baptised in one of the parishes or

had his or her confirmation entered in a church register book in one of the parishes or

has at any time regularly attended normal church services in one of the parishes for a period of at least 6 months or

That one of your parents at any time after you were born

has had his or her usual place of residence in one of the parishes for a period of at least 6 months or

has regularly attended normal church services in one of the parishes for a period of at least 6 months or

That one of your parents or grandparents

was married in one of the parishes.

If you cannot meet these requirements then you can apply for a special licence to marry.  Click here to see more details about marriage licences.  Please complete the marriage application form on this website and Revd. Katrina will contact you.

Please note:  If either of you do not hold British Citizenship, there are specific rules regarding marriage in church.  Click here to see more details.  If you have any questions, please contact Revd. Katrina.
