God in Trinity,
eternal unity of perfect love,
gather the nations to be one family,
and draw us into your holy life
through the birth of Emmanuel,
our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
Collect for Christmas 1
As we travel onwards from Christmas Day, we witness what happened next for Mary and Joseph, and the baby Jesus. In Matthew's account, we see how dangerous those early years were for this precious family - flight into Egypt, return to their home and a quick move away to Nazareth. In all of this, God was with them in their dangers. We see that he protects. He is a God who is with the poorest of the earth. He understands their distress. It is a powerful message in a very difficult passage.
May you sense God's love and care for you and your family.
Every blessing,
Revd Katrina (Vicar)
