Risen Christ,
you filled your disciples with boldness and fresh hope:
strengthen us to proclaim your risen life
and fill us with your peace,
to the glory of God the Father. Amen.
Collect for Easter 3
Our Gospel reading is set on the afternoon of Easter Day. Two followers have given up and are going home to Emmaus. A mysterious stranger joins them and walks all the way with them. As they walk, he listens to what is on their heart and then shares why the cross had to happen. It was part of God's plan. With their hearts on fire, finally, Cleopas and his companion recognise Jesus in the breaking of the bread. It is a beautiful story of our Lord's compassion - his desire to find the lost and hurting.
May you be inspired by this beautiful Easter passage.
Every blessing,
Revd Katrina (Vicar)
